he Bergera Pezzole vineyard is located in the municipality of Novello, in the easternmost portion of the Bricco delle Viole cru. For some it represents almost the extreme natural extension of this historic bricco, a spur that juts out toward the Alpine arc and looks ideally south toward the summit of Monviso.
An iconic element of the cru is the white bell tower that towers among the vines within the MGA, a symbol not only of the landscape but also spiritual, associated with the theme of the nativity. It is not uncommon to note that many of the great vineyards of the Langhe have religious buildings - chapels, bell towers, votive pillars - as a visual and cultural reference, testifying to the deep connection between the land, farming tradition and Christian spirituality.
The soils of Bergera Pezzole are deep and more evolved than in other areas of Bricco delle Viole, the result of an erosion process that has stratified fine material, rich in calcareous clays. This composition gives wines of great structure, but always accompanied by a vibrant freshness and an elegant floral component, similar to that found in the best Bricco delle Viole wines. The high temperature range, favored by the location and altitude, contributes to a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes.
The entire production of this vineyard flows into Barolo Buon Padre, of which it represents one of the deepest and most persistent souls.
